Description

Where the Hama Crank 62MR was developed for open-water Lake Biwa fishing, the Co Hama 55MR is Haruhiko Murakami's precision-scaled companion - designed specifically for spinning tackle presentations in closed and small areas, carrying the same zero-energy-loss design philosophy of the 62MR into a 55mm body that excels in pressured ponds, rivers, and tight-cover environments where shore fishermen work. Murakami, one of Japan's most respected bass professionals, developed both models during his years with Tsunekichi before establishing his own brand Issei in 2013 - making all Tsunekichi Hama Crank and Co Hama examples from this period genuine Murakami-designed collector pieces.

The Kinkaku colourway takes its name from Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺) - the Temple of the Golden Pavilion - Kyoto's most iconic and visited landmark, a 14th-century Zen Buddhist temple whose upper two floors are entirely clad in gold leaf, built as the retirement residence of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Where its sister colour Ginkaku references the restrained, wabi-sabi silver aesthetic of Ginkaku-ji, Kinkaku references the opposite tradition - Japan's opulent karei aesthetic of golden, luminous beauty, reflected in the mirror pond of the Kyoko-chi before it. Produced exclusively for Kyoto-based tackle retailers and never distributed through standard national channels, the Kinkaku colour is one of the most geographically restricted and culturally resonant colour designations in the Tsunekichi catalogue - available only within Kyoto's tackle retail scene and forming a natural paired set with the Ginkaku alongside it.
