Description

Where the X-80 Trick Darter suspends and the X-80 SW slow-sinks for the salt, the Rocket Darter counts down - a full sinking minnow engineered to reach suspended fish at any depth in the water column, then work back through that zone with a serpentine, panic-bait trajectory that no conventional vibration plug could replicate. Internally, twin high-density tungsten weights - one moving balancer and one fixed low-centre-of-gravity balancer - give the Rocket Darter the casting authority to punch headwinds and reach fish holding beyond conventional minnow range, before producing the model's signature rolling-drill action that breaks the straight-line retrieve expectation and draws reaction strikes from bass that have ignored everything else presented to them.

A 2004-dated example sits in the early production era of the Rocket Darter, a lure that was never widely imported outside Japan and remains significantly harder to source than the better-known Trick Darter and SW variants. The Megabass Shrimp colourway - Respect Colour #58, first appearing around 2002 - is one of the most technically elaborate finishes in the Megabass catalogue, applying over eight distinct paints including IL (Illusion) paint to render the translucent, jointed anatomy of a live shrimp: stripe detailing across the back to suggest antennae and body segments, and the lip itself precision-painted in the image of a shrimp claw, an extraordinary detail that underscores the level of craft invested in this colour.
