Description
The Live-X Leviathan SP needs little introduction to the serious collector - it is the lure that established the standard for Japanese diving jerkbaits and remains the benchmark against which all subsequent designs are measured. Produced in 2004, this example sits in the confident mid-production era of the Leviathan SP, a period when the model's colour palette had matured and the Hakusei series was considered the most prestigious finish option in the Leviathan lineup.
The Hakusei Ayu colourway applies the factory's taxidermy-grade painting technique to the ayu (sweetfish) - Japan's most iconic river baitfish - rendering the delicate olive-green back, iridescent flanks, and pale gold belly of a juvenile sweetfish with the same fine-detail brushwork used to prepare museum specimens. As one of only three Hakusei colourways produced for the Leviathan alongside Hakusei Honmoroko and Hakusei Oikawa, Hakusei Ayu occupies a clearly defined position at the top of the model's finish hierarchy and is sought by both Megabass colour completionists and collectors who fish ayu-pattern lures in Japan's clear-water river and lake environments.
