Minor cosmetic marks on body, no structural issues
Developed by ITO Engineering as the topwater counterpart to the Trick Darter, the Prop Darter 80 achieves a surface action that no conventional prop bait of the era could replicate. Its asymmetric prop, patented specifically for this lure, generates a living, spitting sound distinct from the mechanical churn of a standard propeller, while the body's completely redesigned internal architecture causes it to lean left and right on the retrieve in a sinuous, snake-like track across the surface. The addition of a diving lip that attempts but fails to submerge the body introduces a physical resistance that adds a stuttering, struggling quality to the retrieve, a bio-mechanical sound and surface disturbance that reads as genuine distress rather than an artificial lure.
Now discontinued, the Prop Darter 80 occupies a specific and well-regarded position in the Megabass topwater lineup for anglers who fish wake and prop presentations. The Mat Tiger colourway, a bright lime-green matte base with dark tiger stripe patterning, functions as a high-visibility reaction trigger on a lure that already generates significant surface commotion, an aggressive combination designed for overcast, low-light, and stained water conditions.
