The Griffon Zero was created when ITO Engineering gave the legendary Megabass Griffon hardcore tuning - adding shims to the Griffon body mould to increase its volume and installing a new core mould to accommodate the shaft balancer from the Vision 95, transforming the Griffon into an exciting topwater lure operating on a completely different stage from the original. The Hydro Intake at the bottom of the tail gives the Zero high buoyancy and strong water-biting action, ensuring it does not jump free of the surface even at maximum retrieve speeds, while the cup-shaped fins on the lower body sides wobble the lure during the swim and hold water for maximum disturbance. With the rod tip high it dog-walks at high speed in the manner of the Prop-Darter; with the rod tip down it becomes a sub-surface crankbait - three entirely different presentations in a single 45mm body.
Discontinued and now increasingly scarce, this 2003-dated example in original packaging represents the Griffon Zero at its most historically significant - produced in the early years of the model's production run before it was phased from the catalogue. The Glitter Shad colourway applies a fine-glitter holographic finish to a shad baitfish pattern, producing a sparkling, light-scattering effect that distinguishes it from both the flat GG and the opaque standard shad finishes in the Griffon Zero range.
