Description

Dating to 1999, this original lead-balancer Deep-X 200 represents one of the earliest production examples of the lure that established the standard for Japanese deep crankbait engineering - manufactured in the year before the tungsten-upgraded 200T superseded it and at a time when the Moving Balancer System was still the most advanced weight mechanism in commercial lure production anywhere in the world. The three-position Moving Balancer shifts to the tail during the cast for maximum distance, moves to the front upon hitting the water to dive at a steep angle, then settles to the mid position at depth to produce its signature tight wiggling, high-pitch rolling action - compact and precisely profiled where every competing deep crankbait of the era was fat and shapeless.

The GG Kasumi Tiger colourway - Respect Colour #5, a made-to-order Megabass catalogue designation - is a tiger-striped pattern named after Lake Kasumigaura, one of the major bass fishing fields in Japan's Kanto region, introduced around 2000 as a specific strategic colour for one of Japan's most heavily pressured tournament venues at a time when flashy reaction colours dominated conventional tournament thinking. Finding it on a 1999-dated original Deep-X 200 is particularly compelling - the colour and the lure platform share the same formative era of Japanese tournament bass fishing, and together represent a snapshot of Megabass at the peak of its early engineering and colour development.
