Dating to 1996, this original Deep-X 100 with the Old Kubomi ("indented") lip is among the earliest examples of the lure that established the entire Deep-X platform, predating the Deep-X 200 by several years and representing the founding chapter of what would become Megabass's most consequential crankbait lineage. The original Kubomi lip design is a fundamentally different piece of engineering from the refined geometry of subsequent Deep-X 100 iterations and the LBO variants that followed more than a decade later, making this not merely an older version of a current lure but a genuine first-generation prototype-adjacent piece from Megabass's most formative crankbait development period.
When this bait traces the bottom its action is like rubbing its belly against it, and thanks to the balancer it can be twitched unlike other crankbaits, a compact body that Megabass proved could catch trophy bass more consistently than the larger, shapeless deep crankbaits that dominated the era.
The Chart Back colourway presents a high-visibility chartreuse dorsal with a contrasting natural belly, a reaction trigger finish from an era when Megabass was applying the same colour philosophy to its crankbait range that tournament professionals were demanding for pressured, deep-water bass.
