Description
The T.D. Minnow 1053SP is the smallest and most refined model in Team Daiwa's legendary TD Minnow series - a 50mm suspending minnow specifically developed to target bass that suspend above weeds and structure, using a weight oscillating system to deliver outstanding casting distance in an ultralight package. On a pump retrieve it suspends in 2–3 metres of water, and the packaging instructs anglers to concentrate carefully during the pause - as bites most often come at the moment the lure stops. Its tight, quick-return action performs best in clear water and has made it equally celebrated as a trout bait across Japan's crystal-clear mountain streams and rivers. Produced at Daiwa Seiko Co., Ltd.'s Higashikurume, Tokyo facility and discontinued after a production run that established the TD Minnow as one of Japan's most consequential suspending minnow platforms - predating and directly influencing the genre of finesse suspending jerkbaits that would dominate Japanese bass fishing for the following two decades.
The A-1 colourway occupies the first position in the TD Minnow 1053SP's original colour sequence - confirmed by product code 04815255 as the flagship colour of the series - presenting a chrome body with vivid blue lateral stripe detailing and a green dorsal, imitating the holographic, metallic flank colouration of a small Japanese river baitfish in the manner of the chrome-sided baitfish patterns that have proven consistently effective across Japan's clear-water bass and trout fisheries.
