Description
Stamped "Yuki Ito 1/2oz Max 2005," this Pop-Max dates to the mid-production era of one of Japan's most technically advanced surface lures - a period when the model's core engineering was fully proven and its colour palette was still relatively restrained compared to the expanded ranges that would follow in later years. Built entirely from scratch on a Yuki Ito hand-carved original, the Pop-Max distinguishes itself from conventional poppers through its patented ITO Water Chamber System - six internal water intakes that pressurise an internal chamber, keeping the large body grounded and responsive at speeds that would cause a standard popper of this size to skip free of the surface. On the pause, the chamber drains and the nose lifts naturally head-up before a single twitch sends it into its signature rolling walk, combining the best properties of a popper and a dog-walker in a single action sequence.
The PM Bass colourway applies Megabass's Pearl Mica finish - a subtly pearlescent, colour-shifting opaque treatment - to a largemouth bass juvenile pattern, presenting a green-backed, pale-sided silhouette that reads as a small bass or large baitfish at the surface and crosses over cleanly between clear and lightly stained water conditions. The factory-applied feathered rear treble adds a trailing breathing movement on the pause, a detail that distinguishes this example from standard-hook production runs.
