The Type-X arrived as the final piece in Megabass's early 2000s topwater puzzle, after the Dog-X, Pop-X, Pop-Max, and Prop-Darter had each defined a specific surface presentation, the Type-X introduced a concept none of them could replicate: hovering. With a series of small, rapid twitches, the Type-X produces an acrobatic, wacky subsurface action that keeps the lure pinned in a small zone for extended periods, a precision spot-fishing approach that pulls fish from tight shade, undercut banks, and overhanging structure where a moving surface bait would pass through the strike window too quickly. Discontinued and now increasingly scarce, the Type-X holds a specific and well-regarded position in the Megabass topwater lineage.

This 2004-dated example is presented in its original Japan-domestic cylindrical packaging - the premium presentation format used for the Type-X during this era - complete with original paper insert, in exceptional condition. The Bell Frog colourway renders a deep black body with fine gold-bronze glitter flake, vivid red-orange eye with detailed iris. A Japan-domestic discontinued frog pattern distinct from the later production frog variants, and one of the more visually striking colours in the Type-X range.
