Description
Dating to 1998, this Live-X Leviathan SP represents one of the earliest examples of a lure that would go on to define Japanese bass fishing for a generation - produced in the first years of the SP's existence, before the model's reputation had spread beyond Japan's specialist angling community and while Yuki Ito's factory was still refining the colour palette that would characterise the Leviathan line. The SG (Super Ghost) finish is among the most technically refined in the Megabass catalogue - a semi-transparent application that prioritises water compatibility and natural light diffusion over flash, designed to read as a living baitfish rather than a reflective lure body in clear water conditions.
Rendered in an ayu (sweetfish) pattern, the SG Ayu presents as a delicately pale greenish-gold translucency that closely mirrors the slender, iridescent profile of young ayu moving through current - precisely the baitfish that informed Yuki Ito's design instincts on Lake Biwa and the river systems of central Japan. SG Ayu appears across multiple Megabass models from the 1997–1999 era, suggesting it was a flagship natural colour of that production period, and its relative scarcity in today's market reflects how few examples from that window have survived in fishable condition.
