Description
Downsized for Yuki Ito's own personal arsenal to preserve his cherished popper bite during the tough bite windows when the full-sized Pop-X generates too much surface disturbance - the Baby Pop-X is not simply a shrunken Pop-X but a rethought compact popper built around the same water-channeling sculpted cup design and patented Side-Stepping Balancer system of its larger sibling. Its tail-weighted design achieves casting distances disproportionate to its 50mm body, enabling stealth approaches in crystal-clear shallow water where larger baits spook fish on landing. The teaser rear hook adds a trailing breathing movement on the pause that the standard hook configuration cannot replicate, making it equally effective as a stationary target as it is as a walking bait.
This 2012-dated example is an original Baby Pop-X - predating the BFS (Bait Finesse System) designation applied to later production - representing the founding era of the platform before it was refined for ultralight tackle applications. The Tonosama Frog colourway takes its name from the Tonosama Gaeru (殿様蛙) - the Japanese Pond Frog, named for its dignified feudal lord-like sitting posture - rendered in a natural green and brown spotted frog pattern that is one of the most specifically Japanese and biologically accurate frog colours in the Megabass range.
