Description
First appearing in 1997, the T.D. Hyper Crank prevailed in Japan's tournament bass fishing world through a combination of engineering that no conventional crankbait of the era could match - then was revived by popular demand as a cover cranking specialist that tournament professionals consider a big success when tied on with hard baits. Its defining characteristic is the oversized titanium lip - unbreakable where a conventional plastic or resin lip would shatter against hard cover, ultra-thin where it needs to generate action response even at the slowest retrieves, and shaped to float the lure vertically when stationary so the hooks are hidden within the body profile, dramatically reducing snagging in standing timber, riprap, and laydowns. A two-way action system allows the angler to select either wide wobble or tight wobble by repositioning the split ring on the line tie - two fundamentally different crankbait presentations in a single lure. Despite diving to 6 metres, the TD Hyper Crank 1066Ti is recommended primarily as a cover crankbait rather than a deep diver - the titanium lip's ability to deflect off structure while the vertical float posture slips it free of snags makes it uniquely suited to the standing timber and hard cover of Japanese reservoir fishing.
The Legend (レジェンド) colourway presents a pale blue-grey ghost shad body with a subtle pink gill marking - an understated, semi-translucent baitfish finish that earns its name by generating bites in conditions where every other colour has been ignored.
